About ReflexologyZone

Reflexology, with its sources shown.

ReflexologyZone brings together a practitioner directory, interactive charts and the peer-reviewed research in one place, so you can see what reflexology is, who practises it near you, and what the evidence does and does not support.

Why we built this

Reflexology has been practised for over 4,000 years, from tomb paintings at Saqqara to traditional Chinese foot therapy, from Dr William H. Fitzgerald’s zone therapy in 1917 to Eunice Ingham’s foot maps in the 1930s. People come to it today for stress, pain, sleep, pregnancy comfort and general wellbeing.

When we started researching reflexology online, the information was scattered and often contradictory. Practitioner directories were thin or sat behind membership walls. Research was buried in academic databases. Maps disagreed with each other, and nothing connected a condition to the research about it.

So we built this. A directory you can search, charts you can click, and the research behind them in one place.

What we cover

A directory of reflexology practitioners across the United States and Canada, with the source of every listing shown on the listing itself.

Peer-reviewed research from PubMed, sorted by evidence strength, each paper linked to its source and most to a DOI.

Interactive charts for the foot, hand, ear and face, with every reflex point mapped to the organ and body system it is associated with, plus an explainer on zone therapy.

Condition guides cross-referenced to the reflex points and the research that relate to them.

Books and videos, from the foundational texts of zone therapy through to modern specialist work.

Where our listings come from, and what that means

Most listings here were not submitted by the practice. We built the directory from public sources: Google Business Profiles, the public registers of reflexology associations, and practices’ own websites. Every listing shows where its information came from.

That means a listing is a record, not a recommendation. We have not met these practitioners, checked their insurance or assessed their training. Where a practice has claimed its listing and verified ownership, it carries a Verified badge, and that badge means exactly one thing: the person editing it proved they control the business’s email address, phone number or website.

If this is your practice and something here is wrong, you can claim the listing and correct it. That is free.

Who we are

ReflexologyZone is built by a small team of researchers, writers and technologists who think complementary therapies deserve the same clarity that modern medicine has worked hard to achieve online.

We are not practitioners ourselves. We are curators and builders. We work with data from PubMed, SCImago, Google Places and public association registers, and we draw on the published work of generations of reflexologists: Fitzgerald and Ingham, Laura Norman, Mildred Carter, Lone Sorensen, Martine Faure-Alderson, Bui Quoc Chau, and the modern teachers whose books and videos fill our learning hub.

We will not overclaim what reflexology can do. Where the evidence is thin we say so, which is why every study on this site carries its evidence strength on the front of the card.

What we hope

Reflexology is affordable, needs no pharmaceuticals, and for several of the things people use it for, the research is encouraging. For others it is thin, and we will keep saying so.

Our hope is that making this legible brings more people to qualified practitioners, and gives those practitioners somewhere their work is presented properly.

Reflexology has been evolving for four millennia. We intend to be here for a while.

What we stand for

Evidence-first

We surface peer-reviewed research and rate each study by evidence strength. We won't overclaim what reflexology can do, but we will faithfully report what the research shows.

Practitioner-respectful

Every listing is a real business, shown with where its information came from. Practitioners can claim their listing free, correct it and publish their own credentials, and a Business Profile member's page shows no competitor recommendations.

Human-centered

Behind every search is a person deciding whether reflexology is for them, and who to see. We build for them: plain language, clear sources, and honesty about what is known and what is not.

ReflexologyZone grows better every week because of the people who use it. If there's a reflexologist, study, book, or resource we should feature, or if you have feedback on anything, we'd love to hear from you.
