Hi there, I'm Kinda. I'm a licensed reflexology therapist and teacher with the Reflexology Association of Canada. And today I am talking about the five things you need to do in order to be a certified reflexology therapist. Now, why it's important to be certified is because with this certification, you are actually recognized by associations across Canada. And when you meet those credentials, what happens is when you're a member, they give you a number and that number can be used on your receipts and so that clients that actually have reflexology in their benefits plan can get be reimbursed. The other reason why it's super important is because you actually learn how reflexology works. You're understanding why you are pressing the reflexes and so that you can actually help people. Isn't that exciting? So let's get started with the five steps. Step number one, you need materials. So when you register for the course, I actually send you a physical manual. And in this core manual is all of the theory. So you actually get to learn all the anatomy, physiology, and you get to understand how reflexology actually works. So that's get started in this manual. And there is a workbook to work with. Now in addition to that, I actually have a student portal that I give you access to. You have your own user ID so that you can log in. It tracks your progress and you get to actually have support every step of the way. The reason that is important is because as you go through the manuals, it's human nature to forget things. So if I when I I taught this class 30 times live and when I did teach the class 30 times live, what would happen is students would show up on the weekend, we would go through this whole entire manual in a weekend, if you can believe it, and people felt like they were drinking from a fire hose of information. So I give you the student portal so that you can go through it at your pace with accountability. I recommend about three hours a week. There are accountability emails to keep you on track so that you don't get lost or that you don't get behind. And I'm just going to take you quickly into the student portal so that you can see what it looks like. Sound good? So right here you will see my website and you go to reflexology courses. You go student login. Now you're going to click here and then you're going to get access to two certifications. The first one is going to be core which is going to go with your core manual. The second one is going to be foot. So this is the foot manual that you'll also receive as soon as you register and there is a workbook that goes with it as well. So you'll get the workbook plus you're going to get a chart and you're going to get a sequence sheet. So all of these things are the physical materials that you're going to need. And this is the student portal that is going to support you through it. So when you go into core reflexology, you're going to see all the different modules in here and it is going to take you step by step, chapter to chapter with everything that you need to know. You've got support options. The the thing that's super important is there is a Facebook group that you will have access to so that you can actually connect with other students throughout the training. Inside the Facebook right now there is 186 members. This is exclusive to the foot reflexology students registered with my course because um this is a support thing. So in here we celebrate when when you succeed. So when you finish your exam, we celebrate. Um when people register for the course, we welcome them. There's been lots of certifications lately. Um when I did mention at the beginning that you want to be able to be recognized by associations across Canada. NHPC recognizes a certificate and transcript. So, um when the students actually um write a receipt, they can put their number on it and they can um those those clients can get reimbursed. So, there are lots of wins in here that just talks about the NHPC insurance coverage. And we'll go through here so that you can see we do a lot of celebrating. You can ask questions in here anytime that I have an update. It does go into the student portal, but I also put it into the Facebook group so that you can see it. And these are the steps. If you want to join the reflexology association of Canada, these are the steps that you need in order to become a member of rack as well. So, it is recognized by different associations and it gives you many options once you're done. Now, if you're not on Facebook, it's no big deal. I do have an email address that you can reach out to and get your questions answered. Or once a month there are live Q&A calls where we meet on Zoom and you can ask questions, get some clarification um and then you have the recording for um all the things that you you need in here. So, for example, chapter 1 of the core book is right here, and you would get the entire video on um me teaching you that. And then there's a whole bunch of different resources. There's word find, word search, quizzes, all the quizzes. Plus, when you get deeper into the chapters before you do a written exam, which is the next step, there is actually a practice exam that you can can do and so that you feel confident before you write the real exam. So, step two, after you get through the core training modules and all of your manuals, you have to do a written exam. Now, that written exam, you need to pass with 80%. That sounds like a really big number, especially if you're terrified of exams, but I want you to know that I have you well prepared for the exam. Like I said, there's a practice exam. You can ask questions, you have the workbook, you have the manual, and you can have all the resources that you need so that you can pass with confidence. And um that practice exam when you do it, there's actually two in there. So when you do the practice exams, you know that you are ready to write the real exam. And you can do the practice exam as many times as you need to until you feel like you will succeed. Passing the written exam completes step two. Step three is you're going to start doing your practical sessions. Now the practical sessions can be found in this foot manual. So, you're going to understand where the reflexes are because you got your chart where you're going to start learning how to do the method right here. And everything is in here. Again, in the student portal when you go in, there are videos, stepbystep videos. And the reason why that is important is because you can review the correct technique. Again, when I was teaching in-person classes, students would be trying to figure it out and then they would be left to go with their manual and they're trying to remember what I did in class. There's none of that. You you actually get to see the video. So, you can actually see what I'm doing and >> you can hear me teach you and slide back down. Now, when I get to zone four, I'm going to be stretching too much, and I don't want to stretch my right hand. So, I'm going to switch my support hand and my working hand. I'm going to pivot. And now, I'm going to hold the heel with my right hand. And I'm going to work up zone four with my left hand. Making sure I pivot when necessary. And so everything is broken down. Every part of the sequence is broken down step by step. And there's individual videos for each and everything. And so that you can be 100% confident of how you're supposed to be doing it based on how I teach you. You can watch the videos a hundred times. Heck, you can watch them a thousand times if you need to. And so that repetition will help you succeed with confidence. Does that make sense? Now, when you get started actually doing your practical sessions, I've got good news for you. What happens is you're going to have to work on 50 people and you can divide that between 10 people five times or five people 10 times. Now, you're going to find the people in your community. you are going to start having conversations with people that would like to try reflexology. Now, on those five or 10 people that you're going to be working on multiple times, and the reason that's important is because you want to see the progress from session to session, right? And if you just have a one-off, you don't really know what happens. You don't have any feedback from clients. So, when you have 10 clients and they're coming back to you five times, if you space those sessions out, one every one or two weeks, they come back, you can actually see how how they're progressing, how they're feeling better, you can get some feedback. That's what we encourage. So, you're working on 10 people, five times, five people 10 times, and you are able to charge 50% of what you will charge when you are fully certified. The good news with that is you can actually start to earn back your tuition before you're even certified. Isn't that awesome? So, what happens is you find your first client, you charge them 50% of what they would pay when you're fully certified and you that's your money. You keep that and you put that towards um getting your tuition reimbursed. And the other good part about that is you're starting to build your practice from the first practice client. I when I used to teach this live a long time ago, what would happen is um the association force people to do free sessions on everyone. What would happen is the student would be invested. They paid their tuition. They're excited to get started. And by the time they got all the way done, all the practical sessions for free, their practice clients didn't want to pay them and the students didn't feel confident to charge. So, how to combat that is I have co I have the students give a discounted rate from the first session. They build up their confidence. They're used to charging. Clients are used to paying and you end up with a practice when you're done. It might not be a full-time one to start. That takes time to build and but you at least have the practice in the training and so that you're used to having the conversations, you're used to building your clientele and um it gives you a good head start. Now after you are done step three, we have to start making sure you're doing the method correct. You need to have a check-in point, right? So what happens is you go through what we call a mandatory review. Now that mandatory review is 3 hours you are going to meet either with me in person. I'm in Regina, Saskatchewan, or you're going to meet me on Zoom and you are going to have a client in your treatment room. You're gonna have a camera set up so that I can watch you and I am going to watch you do a full reflexology session and so that I am crystal clear that you are doing things correctly. And um it's important because I need to make sure that you need to do your technique right now. A lot of people will be like, "How do you know the pressure?" Well, that's not too hard. So, I want you to take your thumb and I want you to just gently rest your hand on your arm and your thumb just gently. Just lay it just flat like this. Now, with this thumb, I want you to press and so that it feels like the pressure is just a one. Scale of 1 to 10, pressure is just a one. How hard does that feel? Okay, you know what a one feels like? Like it should just feel like the thumb is touching. Now I want you to make it feel like pressure is a 10. So you're going to press really hard. That's too hard. Okay. So pressure one, pressure 10. You never want to have a 10. So you want to be able to make sure that your hand is flat and your thumb is flat. When you're working with a client, it's always on this side of your thumb. So, if you put your thumb on a flat surface, it's where the thumb connects with the skin and then your your thumb moves along just like this. I never want to see this thumb moving like it's uh 90° angle. I call that retirement because if you keep on going like this, your your wrist is going to get sore and your thumb's going to get sore. So, when you're using this, you're using pressure between a one and a two. And you should notice that your knuckle is barely even bending. And that is how you can see what I'm doing. And when you do it, I can see what you're doing. So we make sure that your pressure is right. We make sure that your techniques right. We get feedback from your client and we successfully complete the mandatory review which was step four. Next, what's going to happen is you are going to do the remaining 30 sessions because you need 20 sessions before you get to your mandatory review. Then what's going to happen is you're going to complete the remaining 30 using the feedback that I give you for your exam. and then you're going to go into the practical exam. So, in the practical exam, you're going to have to do a full reflexology session on me or on one of the approved examiners across the country. I've got them all across Canada. And when you do an exam on the examiner or you do the exam on me, we confirm that your method is correct, your pressure is correct, you you have got all of the information that you need. And when I'm crystal clear with that, I hand you your certificate and I hand you your transcripts. And that is exactly what you need to be recognized by either the Reflexology Association of Canada, NHPC, or one of the other reflexology associations across the country, then you're well on your way. But that's not where it ends. Because once you're a part of the community and you are a part of the Facebook group, we stay connected. I am a firm believer that reflexology is a journey and we would love to have you along with us. If that's what resonates with you, it would be my honor and pleasure to teach you how to be a certified reflexology therapist inside the training. The details are below. Check them out. If you have any questions, you're welcome to book a call with me. Bye for now.
