[music] Hello everybody and welcome to Wednesday's reflexology wisdom and uh we are continuing in our series called reflexology works and I am absolutely stoked to have one of the integrated reflexology consortium tutors with me uh today um I want to introduce uce Katie Wayne who teaches her school up in Sheffield. Katie, welcome to Wednesday. How are you? [cheering] >> Thank you for having me. >> Oh, you're welcome. Um, now you've actually got two success stories that you're going to be talking about and one of them's physical, the other one is emotional. I don't mind which one you want to do first. Which one would you like to tell us about first? >> I'll start with the emotional one. >> Okay. Excellent. >> This is a regular client of mine. So, I've been seeing this client for quite a number of years now uh on a fortnightly basis. So, on this particular occasion, she she came into the clinic um and obviously we checked her feet, raised her feet and instantly I could see that they were they were red >> ah >> bright red and very very hot. Now then, whoa, whoa. >> Whoa. >> For everybody, if they see red feet, what does that mean? >> Do I answer? >> Yes, please. >> Anger. >> Absolutely. Anchor. Yeah. >> So, as we do as a reflexologist, we start to delve in. Um, see if we can find out a bit of a backstory. and she got quite emotional, quite upset as she continued to tell me of an argument that she had um a week or so ago regarding some coal actually. >> Coal. >> It was about coal. Um so she'd had a coal delivery. >> Yeah. >> And another member of the family had actually said that somebody else could have some of this coal. So she'd looked out of a bedroom window and the coal was being um loaded up into the back of a car. >> Oh. So, bit of a misunderstanding, miscommunication. Um, but she was very hurt, very upset and carried a lot of resentment about this incident. So, um, she just said, you know, she'd noticed her feet were hot and she actually asked me if it could be to do with the blood pressure. >> So, we kind of just carried on with the consultation. I tried to calm her down. I used stones quite a lot in my treatment. So, um, I gave her the sacrum stone to hold and then I sort of proceeded to do Chase the Hurt. >> By the way, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Because we've said something really important here. By the way, guys, guys, if you want to learn hot and cold stone reflexology, Katie's the one. Yes, absolutely. >> I do actually have my sacrum stone here. So, this is what I would use. That's huge. >> Beautiful, isn't it? So, you'd use that to help to ground and and calm your client. So, >> okay. >> So, we're there in the clinic, the the sacrum stones on, and I talked to the client about a a treatment called Chasing the Hurt. So, I don't know if everybody's familiar with that, but um >> describe it. Describe it. >> Describe it. Okay. So it's it's a treatment where you can help me here David [laughter] but it's a treatment where somebody is carrying some some emotion some blocked motion um and we as reflexologists can help to actually remove that and eliminate it and move it through the body and release it >> perfect like a blocked energy or or whatever. So um we started with the chase the hurt. So you know you hold your feet and you you ask them to um sort of do a body scan tell you where the the feeling is. So we started to work um I think it was actually the stomach that we started with. I can't fully remember but it kind of moves around. You do another body scan and then you move to that area. So it could be the little the little finger. It could be the left ear. It could be we've had it all over. So, we're chasing this her around and probably 25 minutes into this treatment, it's quite intense. Um, the client actually shouted out, "It's gone. It's gone. I've seen it. I've seen it." >> She saw it. >> Saw it. She described it as a yellow line that left her foot. >> So, it was really me. So, if you think about the yellow and think about the yellow um what yellow represents. So that represents the solar plexus >> and we're talking chakras now, aren't we? >> Chakras now. So when that is imbalanced, it's insecurity and aggravation and aggression. So >> yeah, >> and she actually saw it leave. >> Um I received a beautiful text off her after after treatment when she got home saying thank you how much better she felt. There was an emotional release during the the treatment. So we know we did have tears. Um that's okay. We let it go. We We let it sat it out. Um and then you know a lovely text afterwards saying that what a wonderful treatment was then how how she felt better. >> Do you happen to have that text on you? >> I do. Yes. >> Would you now would it be betraying a confidentiality if you were to Could you Could you read it? >> I could read it. Yeah. Okay. So, hi Katie. Just wanted to let you know that I was amazed by your treatment today. I hadn't realized that so much anger and upset had built up and I was carrying it all in my feet. Chasing the hurt really helped. I know it took a few goes at chasing it around my body, but when it reached my feet, I definitely felt and I saw it leave my body. Thank you so much. I feel much calmer now. Thanks again for your help. See you soon. So, that's really lovely. >> It doesn't get much better than that, does it? No, not at all. Absolutely fantastic. So, that's the first one. Yeah. >> Um, I did get another text from the same lady actually, still about the treatment. >> Oh, okay. >> Few days after that again. And that says, "I'm really sorry to bother you, but I forgot to let you know that when I got home from my treatment, I cried and cried like I've never cried before. It was about 4 hours after I got home after having the treatment. It surprised me, but it felt like some sort of release to me, like something had been unblocked in my emotions somehow. I know you like little updates. I'm not sure if this will make sense. So, that was really nice. >> I bet that made your day getting that. >> It does. Yeah. Makes it all worthwhile. That's what we do it for, isn't it? >> It is. You're absolutely right. You're absolutely right. So, I tell you, I'm I'm intrigued. So, so we we've got this brilliant um sort of emotional release. >> Yeah. >> And you're now also going to be telling me about a physical client. >> Yep. So, this is this is a client who has had or suffered for a long time with back pain. So, came to clinic for for back pain. That was the that was the condition. We didn't really know what we were dealing with. It was just my back hurts. I've got a lot of pain in my back. Well, we don't diagnose though, do we? So, >> we do not. But she hadn't got a diagnosis, right? So, >> we didn't really know what to do. >> You're playing detective again then, aren't you? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Of course we are. >> Okay. >> So, um so combination of traditional reflexology again going to bring in the stones. >> A lot of work around the inner outer pelvic region, sciatic right up into that chronic reflex. do a lot of soothing with a a trigger stone. I can get >> Katie, do you have a trigger stone? Oh, look at that. There it is. >> There it is. So, I do a lot of work sort of it's quite a lot of um sort of soothing with the warm stones. >> Um and then again, great feedback from the treatments where the pain has been relieved. Um not only the pain's been relieved, but movement has has sort of increased as well. So, the stiffness has gone. So she had limited back mobility then. >> Yes, that's right. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Um following on from that, we do have a diagnosis now. So we're working with um diffuse idiopathic sceal hyperosttois. Okay. >> Which is stiffening and calcification of the spinal ligaments. So it's actually limiting the range of movement and and giving quite a lot of stiffness to the back. >> Okay. >> So we've had some great results with that. And again, I've got um you know, some great feedback on text from the client as well saying that the um m the pain is reduced by 40%. >> 40%. >> 40%. Yeah. So, again, I've got a text I can share with you on that. Would you like to? >> Yeah. >> So, that's one thing I do do. Um I do ask for feedback from my clients. Um >> because that is what makes me tick. That's what drives me to that next treatment and really focus on the treatment planning. >> Oh, that's amazing. I would imagine though that the clients really feel as if they're supported as well because you're checking in with them and >> I do check in with the clients a lot and that and they're on it. So, they're kind of buying into a journey. >> Yes. >> Um, so yeah, I do I do check in with them. So, good morning. Just wanted to give you some feedback my back. It was about tea time that I noticed that my neck shoulders have become a lot looser of movement was much easier. I've still got pain, but I would say it's it's lessened by at least 40% which is amazing. Gosh, >> my shoulders feel a lot better. Still got pain, but the muscles feel no way as tight as they did. I think I did mention that this is the worst back pain I have ever had in my life. So, thank you for easing it for me. I'm off now for my X-ray to see if anything shows up. So that was prior to the diagnosis. >> Prior to the diagnosis. >> Yeah. >> Katie, how many treatments did you give this person before you got that 40% result? >> Two. >> Bloody hell. >> Two. >> Amazing. >> There was instant relief from treatment one. >> Just just ju everybody's going to be going, "How did you do it? What?" Just remind us again. So you you used your stones, but we we could use fingers anyway if you haven't done >> I use both. So I do do a lot of both. And I think >> what reflexes did you work on? >> So all of the spinal reflexes, neck, all of all of zone um five, literally right down to zone five. But lots of work on that. Also a lot of work on the um over the spine and lots of um sort of we call it potato peeling, don't we? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Potato peeling going back over it. So then I'll work on that. Then I'd go to the adrenals, work the adrenals, pituitary for pain, um along that diaphragm line for relaxation, solar plexus because she's quite distressed about it. But then I'd go back over those key reflexes. And a little bit like a dog with a bone, just keep going back over the same reflexes throughout that treatment. So Katie, I just want to stop you just for a second because there's something about the treatment plan that I'm not quite sure about. I don't have any doubts about what what you've done, but you mentioned zone five, but this is a spinal problem. So why why have you chosen zone five? >> Okay. Oh, well, I'll show you. I'll get the foot and do you a little demo. >> Oh, lovely. [laughter] >> Okay. So, we all have a foot, don't we? his reflexologist. So, um the obviously the spinal um reflex, it also runs laterally. So, Tony Porter refers to this as the lateral spine reflex or the um the lateral spine. So, you can work both sides um together and it supports and then also in there we've got the urinary bladder meridian line that runs down either side. >> Oh. Ah. So all put together that is really supportive of any um back problems. >> That's brilliant. And yes, you're so right about that urinary bladder meridian because it runs through the erectus spiny muscles, doesn't it? >> Yes, that's it. >> Wonderful. KT, this has been brilliant. Thank you so much for bringing these two stories to us. One emotional, one physical, and literally instantaneous results. Am I Am I right? >> Pretty much. Pretty much instant relief. Yeah. For both clients. So, yeah, >> that's just fabulous. >> It is. It's great. >> Guys, if um I can't help myself. I'm going to I'm going to say this down the bottom here. Um I'm going to put a little link to KT's Hot and Cold Stone Reflexology. It is an AO approved course, by the way, so you get your double points for that. Um Katie, thank you so much for spending some time with us. It's just absolutely lovely to see you again. >> Thank you. >> And um guys, I hope you've enjoyed this. Stay well, stay safe, and on behalf of Katie and myself, thank you so much for watching. Bye-bye. >> Byebye. [music] [music]
