nurturing touch is so important in life and nurturing touch in reflexology helps the work be much more effective than somebody works too lightly or somebody works too heavily hello I'm Bill Flo founder and director of the American Academy of reflexology in Los Angeles California let's take a brief look at reflexology for the feet and some ways of doing reflexology we know that reflexology is an image of the human body that's superimposed on the feet the toes for the head and neck the ball and pad for the chest the soft sole for the upper mid abdomen and the heel for the lower abdominal pelvic area if you look at this model for a minute the blue line is for the arm reflexes and if you look at the black line here it's for the hip upper leg knee lower leg and foot reflexes and interestingly on the inner edge of the foot there are reflexes that help bring relief for spinal problems neck thoracic or midpine lumbar lower spine and uh Sacrament tailbone reflexes those are found here on the inner edge of both feet now the main technique that's used in reflexology was called some parts of the world it's called the thumb walk some places it's called the thumb roll but it's using nurturing touch to move along very different technique from either ACU pressure or massage therapy reflexology is a totally different discipline than those two and there are thousand hundreds of different research studies that have been conducted validating reflexology so how do we uh use this if somebody has discomfort in their chest we'd use our touch on the chest reflexes if somebody has discomfort in their arm we'll use our nurturing specific reflexology techniques on the upper arm reflex for for example or if somebody has a hip problem we'll use our touch on the hip reflex and again it needs to be nurturing neither too light nor too heavy the average reflexology session takes about an hour when done by a professional it can be done on yourself it can be done on your family and friends and of course it's best when it's done by a professional so I'm Bill FCO from the American Academy of reflexology we wish you outstanding good health and vitality hey
