[Reflexology in patient rehabilitation with postoperative pain. (Literature review)]
In Plain Language: reflexology for recovery after surgery, explained
Postoperative pain is a pressing medical problem, as it significantly reduces the quality of life of patients after surgical treatment. Chronic postoperative pain further disables patients and impairs their functional activity. Being a widespread interdisciplinary problem, postoperative pain requires the integration of various pain management methods in complex multimodal pain management in the acute period and treatment programs for its chronicity. The paper examines the possibilities of reflexology methods for the relief of acute and treatment of chronic postoperative pain. Integration of reflex effects from the first days after surgery makes it possible to more effectively and safely solve the problems of acute and chronic postoperative pain. Послеоперационная боль является актуальной медицинской проблемой, поскольку значимо снижает качество жизни пациентов после хирургического лечения. Хроническая послеоперационная боль еще в большей с&#
Key Findings
- ✓Postoperative pain significantly reduces quality of life and can develop into chronic pain that impairs functional activity in patients after surgical treatment.
- ✓Reflexology methods can be integrated into multimodal pain management approaches to effectively relieve acute postoperative pain and treat chronic postoperative pain.
- ✓Early integration of reflex effects starting from the first days after surgery enables safer and more effective management of both acute and chronic postoperative pain.
What This Means for You
Reflexology may be a helpful complementary tool for post-surgical pain management, but the evidence is still developing and it should be used alongside conventional medical care rather than as a replacement.
What This Means for Practitioners
Integrating reflexology early in the post-operative period (from the first days after surgery) may enhance multimodal pain management strategies and improve outcomes for both acute and chronic post-surgical pain.
Reflexology for recovery after surgery: common questions
Does reflexology help with recovery after surgery?

How strong is this evidence?
This is a systematic review and we rate its evidence limited. It was published in Voprosy kurortologii, fizioterapii, i lechebnoi fizicheskoi kultury. Reflexology is a complementary therapy, not a replacement for medical treatment.
